What I can help with

  • Scam awareness and protection

I'll show you how to spot common scams, including fake emails, phone calls, and text messages. You'll know what to look out for and what to do if something seems suspicious.

  • Security check on all your devices

I'll check your laptop, phone, and tablet for security gaps and fix them. That covers antivirus software, app permissions, and account settings.

  • Safe internet banking

I'll make sure your online banking is set up securely and show you how to use it safely, so you can manage your finances online with confidence.

  • Safe online shopping

Learn how to shop online safely. I'll show you what sites to trust, how to spot fakes, and how to pay securely without putting your card details at risk.

  • Antivirus and security software

I'll check whether you have appropriate security software installed, advise on what you actually need (no unnecessary paid upgrades), and set it up properly.

  • Privacy settings review

I'll review the privacy settings on your devices and social media accounts and adjust anything that's sharing more information than it should be.

Online scams are becoming more convincing every year, and the consequences can be serious. I visit homes across Falkirk and the surrounding area to help people stay safe online. That means checking security settings, explaining how scams work, and making sure devices are properly protected.

Why online safety matters more than ever

Scammers are more sophisticated than they used to be. Fake emails now look almost identical to real ones from your bank. Phone calls claiming to be from Microsoft or BT sound professional and persuasive. The goal is always the same: to get your personal details, your passwords, or access to your accounts.

The good news is that most scams follow recognisable patterns. Once you know what to look for, they become much easier to spot. I’ll walk you through the most common types during a visit and show you exactly what the warning signs are.

What an online safety visit covers

I’ll work through your devices and accounts systematically:

  • Check that your laptop, phone, and tablet have appropriate security software and settings
  • Review your email account for suspicious activity or unusual login locations
  • Check your privacy settings on social media and adjust anything that’s oversharing
  • Make sure your online banking is properly secured
  • Go through common scam types and how to recognise them
  • Answer any questions you have about anything online that’s made you feel uncertain

There’s no set script. If you’ve had a worrying phone call, received a suspicious email, or just want to know whether your setup is safe, I’ll address exactly what concerns you.

If you think something has already happened

Act quickly. If you’ve given someone remote access to your computer, shared a password, or made a payment to someone you now suspect was fraudulent, contact your bank immediately and then get in touch with me. In many cases there are steps that can limit the damage if you act fast.

I cover online safety visits across Falkirk and the surrounding area, including Grangemouth, Larbert, Bo’ness, Linlithgow, and Denny.

Common questions

Common signs include unexpected emails asking for passwords, phone calls claiming to be from Microsoft or your bank, or transactions you don't recognise. If you're worried, contact me and I'll check your devices and accounts.

It depends on your device. Windows laptops benefit from reputable antivirus software, while iPhones and iPads have strong built-in security. I'll give you honest advice without trying to sell you anything unnecessary.

Almost certainly yes. Microsoft, Apple, and banks do not make unsolicited calls asking for access to your computer or passwords. If you've already given someone access, please get in touch as soon as possible.

I charge £50 per hour with a no fix, no fee guarantee. An online safety check typically takes one to two hours.
