What I can help with
-
New console setup
Just got a new console? I'll get it connected to your TV, set up your WiFi or wired connection, create or sign into your accounts, and configure parental controls if needed, so it's ready to play straight away.
-
Network and online connection issues
Can't connect to PSN, Xbox Live, or Nintendo Online? Strict or moderate NAT type causing problems in multiplayer? I'll diagnose your network setup and find the fix, whether that's a router setting, a DNS change, or a wired connection.
-
Account setup and recovery
PlayStation Network, Xbox, and Nintendo accounts can be a headache, especially if you're locked out, setting up a family account, or migrating to a new console. I'll get it sorted and make sure two-factor authentication is enabled to keep your account secure.
-
Controller and accessory setup
Pairing controllers, headsets, and other accessories, including third-party hardware that can be tricky to get working. I'll get everything connected and configured correctly.
-
Parental controls
Setting spending limits, screen time controls, and content restrictions on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo devices. Useful for parents who want to manage what their children can access and spend.
-
TV and display setup
Getting the best picture and sound from your console means more than just plugging in an HDMI cable. I'll check your TV's game mode settings, HDR configuration, and audio output to make sure you're getting the best experience your setup can offer.
Consoles are supposed to be the easy way to game. Plug in and play. But network issues, account problems, and setup headaches can make even a brand new PS5 or Xbox feel like hard work. I help with the frustrating side of console gaming so you can get on with actually playing.
Setup, network, and accounts
New console setup is more involved than it used to be. Modern consoles need a network connection before they’ll do much at all, firmware updates that can take an hour, account creation or migration, and sometimes parental control configuration. I’ll work through it all so you’re not spending your first evening staring at a progress bar.
Network and NAT issues are the most common console problem I see. If you’re getting disconnected from online games, can’t join friends, or your console says it can’t connect to PSN or Xbox Live, there’s almost always a fix. It might be a DNS setting, a UPnP option on your router, or simply switching to a wired connection. I’ll diagnose properly rather than suggesting random things to try.
Account issues such as locked accounts, family account setup, and moving to a new console are straightforward once you know where to look. The account systems for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo are all different and can be confusing. I’ll get it sorted and make sure your account has two-factor authentication enabled so you’re not at risk of losing it.
Parental controls worth knowing about
All three major consoles have comprehensive parental controls that most parents don’t know exist. PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo all let you set spending limits so kids can’t buy things without permission, content age restrictions, screen time limits, and playtime curfews. If you have children with a console and haven’t set these up, it’s worth doing.
I cover console help across Falkirk and the surrounding area, including Grangemouth, Larbert, Stenhousemuir, Bonnybridge, and Denny. Call 07944 156 453 or message on WhatsApp. No fix, no fee, 7 days a week.
Common questions
PlayStation (PS4, PS5), Xbox (One, Series S/X), and Nintendo Switch. I can also help with older consoles if the issue is network or account related.
NAT type affects how your console connects to other players online. A strict NAT type can prevent you from joining games or cause connection drops. In most cases it can be improved through router settings. I'll check your setup and explain what's possible.
My focus is on setup, network, and software issues rather than hardware repairs. If your console has a physical fault, such as a disc drive not working or a broken HDMI port, I'll be upfront that it needs a specialist repair service.
I charge £50 per hour. Most console setup or troubleshooting jobs take under an hour. No fix, no fee.
