What I can help with
-
New gaming PC setup
Just got a new pre-built or finished a build? I'll get everything configured properly. Windows setup, driver installation, accounts, and game libraries, so you're ready to play from day one.
-
WiFi lag and connection problems
High ping, packet loss, or constant disconnects can ruin any game. I'll diagnose your network, identify whether it's a WiFi, router, or ISP issue, and find the best fix. That might be a wired connection, a powerline adapter, or a settings change.
-
Game crashes and performance issues
Games freezing, crashing, or running worse than they should? I'll check drivers, background processes, thermal performance, and settings to find the cause and get things running smoothly.
-
Peripheral and controller setup
Mouse, keyboard, headset, controller, capture card. I'll get everything connected, configured, and working as it should, including any software or firmware that needs setting up.
-
Game and platform account setup
Steam, Xbox, PlayStation Network, Epic, Battle.net. I'll set up your accounts, enable two-factor authentication to keep them secure, and make sure your library and saves are properly backed up to the cloud.
-
Streaming and content setup
Thinking about streaming or recording? I'll help you set up OBS or similar software, configure your scenes and audio, and make sure your PC can handle it without affecting your game performance.
Gaming PC problems are frustrating, especially when everything was working fine and something has changed, or when a new setup just won’t behave the way it should. I’ve been building, repairing, and gaming on PCs for most of my life, and I visit homes across Falkirk and Central Scotland to help get things sorted.
What I help with
My focus is on setup, configuration, and the kinds of problems that don’t require sending anything away or waiting weeks for a diagnosis. That covers a lot of ground.
New setup and first-time configuration: a fresh Windows install or a new pre-built often needs more work than people expect. Drivers need updating, Windows Update needs to run, game platforms need configuring, and default settings are rarely optimal for gaming. Getting this right at the start makes a real difference.
Network and lag issues: poor gaming performance is often a network problem rather than a PC problem. A weak WiFi signal, a congested channel, or a router with poor QoS settings can cause lag that looks like a hardware issue. I’ll diagnose properly rather than guessing.
Crashes and instability: games crashing or the PC rebooting during heavy load usually points to a driver issue, a thermal problem, or occasionally a hardware fault. I’ll check drivers, temperatures, and event logs to find the cause.
Peripherals: getting mice, keyboards, headsets, and controllers working sounds simple, but software conflicts, firmware issues, and driver problems can make it anything but. I’ll get everything configured and working correctly.
What I’m honest about
I carry standard diagnostic tools but not specialist hardware testing equipment. If a problem points to a hardware fault that needs dedicated GPU stress-test rigs or drive health diagnostics beyond software-level checks, I’ll tell you before charging for time spent guessing.
If the problem turns out to need a part, I’ll advise on exactly what’s needed and where to get it. Some things I can sort on a return visit once parts are sourced; others you might want to take to a specialist repair shop. I’ll always give you an honest steer.

Common questions
I have years of experience building and repairing PCs and can help with setup, configuration, and getting a build running correctly. For complex hardware faults requiring specialist diagnostic equipment, I'll always be upfront about what I can and can't test on-site.
Yes. This is one of the most common gaming problems I see. I'll work through the likely causes systematically, from your WiFi signal and router settings to your PC's network adapter configuration. In most cases there's a clear fix.
My main expertise is PCs, but I can help with console network setup, account issues, and getting peripherals working. If it's a hardware fault with a console itself, I'll be honest about the limits of what I can do.
I charge £50 per hour. Most setup or troubleshooting jobs take one to two hours. If I can't resolve the problem, you don't pay.
I'll always tell you honestly. If a problem needs parts, I'll advise on what's needed and where to get it. If it needs specialist diagnostic equipment I don't carry, I'll say so before charging for anything.
